Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the Grou AI app (“Grou AI”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and what we do with it. In short: your videos stay on your phone, we only send what's needed to edit them, and we never sell your data or show ads.

1. Your videos

Videos you record or import are stored on your device. We do not upload your video files to our servers.

2. Audio and transcripts

To remove pauses and retakes and to create captions, the app needs to understand what you say. When you make a video:

• The audio track of your recording is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and passed to a speech-to-text provider (ElevenLabs, or OpenAI as a backup) to produce a transcript with word timings.
• The transcript text is sent to an AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) to find retakes, filler words and to suggest a title.

We do not keep your audio or transcripts on our servers after processing is finished. These providers process the data on our behalf under their own terms and data-protection commitments, and according to their API policies they do not use it to train their models.

3. Account and usage data

The app creates an anonymous account for you automatically — no name, email or phone number is required. We store a random account ID and how many videos you have made, so we can apply the limits of your plan.

4. Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. We use Adapty to check your subscription status; Adapty receives your anonymous account ID, purchase history and basic device information (such as device model, OS version and country) for that purpose and for aggregated purchase analytics.

5. Photos access

The app asks for permission to add videos to your Photos library so it can save the finished result. If you import a video, you choose it yourself in the system picker; the app does not browse your library.

6. This website

grouai.app uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you or track you across other websites.

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, your approximate country and any survey answers you choose to give. We use them only to tell you about the launch and beta access and to understand what to build. We don't share them with anyone except our database provider (Supabase), and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete them at any time. Cloudflare Turnstile may be used to protect the form from bots.

7. What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your data.
• We don't show ads.
• We don't track you across other apps or websites.

8. How long we keep data

Audio and transcripts are deleted after processing. Your account ID and usage counts are kept while you use the app and deleted when you ask us to delete your account.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to access or delete the data linked to your account by writing to [email protected]. Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights, such as correcting your data or objecting to its processing. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Children

Grou AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the related data.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will also let you know in the app.
